Recording Academy to announce 2027 Grammy nominations on 16 November

The Recording Academy will announce the 2027 Grammy nominations on Monday, 16 November 2026. The announcement begins at 7:45 a.m. ET, which is 4:45 a.m. PT and 12:45 p.m. GMT. Fans can watch free on Grammy.com and the official Grammys YouTube channel, according to the Academy's viewing guide.

Past Grammy winners and nominees will take part in the announcement. The presenter lineup is expected to be confirmed separately, the viewing guide says.

Five new categories join the ballot

Five categories are new this year: Best Asian Pop Music Performance, Best R&B Collaboration or Duo/Group Performance, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance, Best Traditional Folk Album and Best Latin Song, the Academy said. Best Latin Song honors songwriting on eligible songs with at least 51% Spanish-language lyrics. Best Asian Pop Music Performance covers eligible K-pop, J-pop and C-pop recordings. Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance honors traditional-style vocal recordings, and Best Traditional Folk Album recognizes traditional folk albums.

The Academy also renamed two existing races. Best R&B Performance becomes Best R&B Solo Performance, and Best Folk Album becomes Best Contemporary Folk Album. The additions give Latin, Asian pop, traditional pop, folk and R&B collaboration acts new routes to a nomination.

Early forecasts point to a crowded Album of the Year race

No nominees have been announced. Early Gold Derby forecasts highlighted possible Album of the Year contenders including Olivia Rodrigo's You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, Olivia Dean's The Art of Loving, Rosalía's Lux, Taylor Swift's The Life of a Showgirl, RAYE's This Music May Contain Hope, Bruno Mars's The Romantic and Noah Kahan's The Great Divide.

Those forecasts also listed Olivia Dean's Man I Need, RAYE's Where Is My Husband!, Olivia Rodrigo's The Cure, Taylor Swift's The Fate of Ophelia and Ella Langley's Choosin' Texas in early Record and Song of the Year conversations. Record of the Year recognizes a recording and its contributors, while Song of the Year primarily honors songwriting. The same track can compete in both categories.

For Best New Artist, early contenders include Sienna Spiro, Ella Langley, Slayyyter, Geese, Malcolm Todd, Audrey Hobert, Role Model and Dominic Fike. These are unofficial forecasts, not confirmed nominees. Best New Artist eligibility also depends on Academy rules rather than simply whether a performer has released a debut recording.

Voting and what happens next

First-round voting concluded on 22 October. Final voting runs from 10 December 2026 through 7 January 2027. Only Recording Academy voting members determine the nominees and winners, the Academy says. A new Ballot Plus option lets qualified members vote in up to 15 peer-related categories across genre fields. Other changes reduce the minimum proportion of new recordings required on eligible albums from 75% to 66%.

The complete nominees list will be published on Grammy.com immediately after the announcement, according to the Academy's viewing guide. A Grammy Nominations Wrap-Up Show will follow on Grammy.com and the Academy's YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch and X channels.

The 69th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, 7 February 2027, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air live on ABC, Disney+ and Hulu. Until the nominations are read, predictions should not be mistaken for confirmed Grammy selections.
