Nine extends Premier League rights in Australia to end of 2033/34 season
Nine Entertainment announced on 10 September 2026 that it had extended its exclusive Premier League rights in Australia by six years, to the end of the 2033/34 season, keeping every match on Stan Sport.

Stan Sport, a Nine subsidiary, holds live and exclusive rights to the Premier League in Australia. The 2026/27 season is already underway on the service. Nine said the extension covers streaming and broadcast rights and that it is the sole rights holder in Australia.
What the extension covers
The current deal had two seasons left, and the extension runs to the end of the 2033/34 season. Nine's report on nine.com.au said fans would be able to watch the league on Stan Sport "for the next eight years."
Stan Sport first secured the Premier League rights last year, along with the Champions League and other football competitions. Its football slate also includes the Europa League, Conference League, Women's Super League and FA Cup. Nine lists the J.League, NWSL and K League among its rights.
Why the rights matter to Nine
Amanda Laing, Nine's managing director of streaming and broadcast, said the Premier League rights had been one of the largest drivers of subscriptions in Stan Sport history and were "a key contributor to our strong financial results in FY26." She said the response from subscribers since Stan Sport brought the Premier League to the service had been remarkable. She said the extension cements Nine as the "undisputed home of football in Australia."
Nine chief executive Matt Stanton said: "Football is the ultimate global game, followed with remarkable intensity by millions of fans across Australia." He said Nine was uniquely placed to use its streaming, broadcast, publishing and outdoor assets to promote the Premier League and deepen fan engagement. Stanton said the agreement strengthened Nine's premium sport offering and reflected its long-term strategy of investing in premium live sport.
Paul Molnar, the Premier League's chief media officer, said the league was delighted to extend its partnership with Stan for a further six seasons, ensuring fans across Australia can continue to enjoy every Premier League match live through to the end of the 2033/34 season. He said Australia is important to the Premier League, with a large and passionate fanbase. Molnar said Stan had demonstrated a strong commitment to high-quality coverage and to bringing the Premier League closer to fans, supported by the reach and strength of the wider Nine network.
What it means for fans
Football360 reported in 2025 that an Australian fan needed seven services to watch all the major football competitions, at a total cost of A$1,309 a year. Watching the biggest competitions plus the A-League required Stan, Paramount and beIN, at A$640 a year, or A$53.33 a month. By comparison, rugby league, AFL and basketball fans needed only Kayo Sports, at A$360 a year. Rugby fans needed Stan, at A$384 a year. Football360 said football was harder to stream than any other major code in Australia.
