Ferrari says every Luce planned for 2027 is already allocated
Ferrari says every Luce it plans to sell in 2027 is already allocated, five months after the car drew mockery at its launch. CEO Benedetto Vigna gave the figure on 3 November during the company's third-quarter results.

A sold-out year, five months after the mockery
Vigna said on 3 November that the Luces planned for next year "basically are all allocated". Ordering now means a wait of about a year.
The Luce is Ferrari's first all-electric car and its first five-seater. The allocation matters because it tests whether wealthy buyers will pay a premium for an electric Ferrari. Ferrari has not said how many Luce units it will build or sell. It has not said where the orders come from.
CNBC reported on 30 July that the Financial Times had put Ferrari's target at just under 500 Luce units this year. The quota was filled in less than two months after the 25 May launch. Ferrari sold 13,640 vehicles last year. It said then that its order books were full through 2027.
The car being sold is a four-door with a motor at each wheel. It has a 122 kWh battery and a claimed 329 miles of range on the European test cycle. Ferrari quotes 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed above 310 km/h.
What the launch actually cost
Ferrari shares fell 8.4% the day after the debut, their largest daily decline of the year. The Guardian put the Milan drop at as much as 8% in morning trading, with the shares closing 6% lower. The two accounts of the same session do not match.
Before the launch the carmaker was valued at €56bn. By mid-August the stock had risen 13% for the year. Demand for high-priced models helped, including the $3.6 million F80 hybrid.
The Luce starts at 550,000 euros, about $640,000. InsideEVs lists a U.S. starting price of $560,800. Nine months into 2026, Ferrari reported revenue of 5.68 billion euros, up 6% on the same period a year earlier. Deliveries fell 3% to 10,170 vehicles. Net profit reached 1.31 billion euros, up 7% from 1.22 billion.
The design fight Vigna will not revisit
Vigna said on 30 July that he "would not change anything" about the launch. "We are very pleased about what has been done," he added.
Former chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said the car was "risking the destruction of a legend". Italy's transport minister, Matteo Salvini, called it "outrageously expensive". He said it "looks like anything but a car from the Prancing Horse". He asked what Enzo Ferrari would say.
Vigna's answer has been to point at the driving rather than the styling. "We see when and how the perception changes when the people drive the car," he said on the 3 November call. MotorTrend described the car's responses in an early drive as "beguilingly natural". Ferrari's chief design officer, Flavio Manzoni, said in May that critics are part of the innovation process.
Chassis zero and the markets outside Europe
The first production Luce sold for $40m at RM Sotheby's in California, more than 35 times the car's usual price. Proceeds went to the Ferrari Foundation's education programmes. The previous record for a new car at auction was a Daytona SP3 at $26m in 2025.
Ferrari showed the Luce at Universo Ferrari in New Delhi, which opened on 17 October and ran to 1 November. Public entry began on 19 October at the India International Convention and Expo Centre. Ferrari Korea showed the car in Seoul on 24 August, priced from the mid-800 million won range. Korean deliveries are due in the second half of 2027.
What happens next
Deliveries begin in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2026. Ferrari plans customer test drives for early 2027. It expects them to lift demand further.
Ferrari's 2030 target is a lineup of 40% combustion, 40% hybrid and 20% fully electric. In 2022 the plan called for 40% electric by 2030. The company has already cut its own electric ambition once.
