Ramayana: Part One adds Rs 34.06 crore net in India on Day 2

Day 2 adds Rs 34.06 crore net

By 8:03 pm on 6 November, the film ran across 20,263 shows and had grossed Rs 40.19 crore in India on Friday alone, Sacnilk's live tracker showed, as reported by the Financial Express. The day's net was about half the Rs 64.85 crore it collected on the opening day.

Hindi shows, 17,265 of them, brought in Rs 25.42 crore net. Kannada came next at Rs 3.62 crore from 802 shows. Telugu added Rs 3.02 crore from 1,320 shows. Tamil added Rs 1.11 crore from 487 shows. Malayalam added Rs 89 lakh from 389 shows. Bengaluru led occupancy at 47.3% from 244 shows. The National Capital Region ran the most Hindi 3D shows, 1,123, at 16.7% occupancy.

The records the opening did set

The Rs 64.85 crore opening beat Ranbir Kapoor's previous best, Animal, at Rs 63.80 crore net. It was the biggest pre-Diwali opening day, ahead of Tiger 3's Rs 44.50 crore. Among original Hindi releases of 2026, it ranked second. It sat behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge at Rs 102.55 crore net and ahead of Drishyam 3: The Conclusion at Rs 62 crore. For Yash it was the third-highest opening of his career, behind KGF: Chapter 2 and Toxic.

PVR INOX had sold more than 4 lakh tickets across its circuit for the extended weekend before release, its chief business planning and strategy officer Kamal Gianchandani said.

Why the worldwide figure ranges from Rs 121.62 crore to Rs 155 crore

The makers announced Rs 155 crore worldwide gross for the first day. Independent trackers did not agree. The Hollywood Reporter India reported Sacnilk's estimate at Rs 127.50 crore worldwide: Rs 77.50 crore gross in India and Rs 50 crore overseas, or 39% of the global launch. Pinkvilla put the same worldwide total at Rs 76 crore in India and about Rs 51.50 crore overseas. Bollywood Hungama had it lower, at Rs 121.62 crore, from Rs 74.37 crore in India and Rs 47.25 crore overseas. Gulf News ranked the Rs 127.50 crore start 16th among Indian openers, behind Jawan at Rs 129 crore and Adipurush at Rs 128 crore on its list.

Bollywood Hungama put the India net at Rs 62.47 crore, against Sacnilk's Rs 64.85 crore. It ranked the film fifth on its all-time opening day list, behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge at Rs 90 crore, Jawan at Rs 75 crore, Pushpa 2 at Rs 72 crore and Animal at Rs 63.80 crore. Koimoi ranked the same opening fourth, behind Dhurandhar 2 at Rs 145 crore, Adipurush at Rs 86.75 crore and Jawan at Rs 75 crore.

Overseas strength, and the Adipurush benchmark

Overseas, Pinkvilla reported USD 5.45 million, about Rs 51.50 crore, on day one. That included close to USD 2 million from North American previews on the Wednesday. The United States delivered USD 2.80 million. That was the second-biggest Bollywood start there, behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge at USD 2.91 million. The film topped the US chart on Thursday. The UK set an all-time Bollywood opening day record at GBP 440K. It beat Dhurandhar: The Revenge's GBP 427K. Germany posted the biggest Bollywood opening day there at EUR 165K. The Middle East took USD 400K. There was no release in Saudi Arabia or Qatar.

Ramayana fell short of Adipurush's worldwide opening, Bollywood Hungama reported. The 2023 Prabhas release opened to Rs 140 crore worldwide gross, Rs 18.38 crore more, and to Rs 86.75 crore net in India. Gulf News listed the same Adipurush opening at Rs 128 crore, a lower tracker figure.

What happens next

The film entered a four-day extended Diwali weekend. Pinkvilla's advance analysis said Monday would be the biggest day of the run, as Hindi circuits come in full force after the festivities. It projected an overseas opening weekend above USD 20 million, against an aim of about USD 25-30 million given the scale of the film and Sony's P&A spend. Sony Pictures released it on 70,000 screens worldwide. A second part is planned for Diwali 2027; ET and Gulf News reported Diwali 2028.
