Gatik raises $200 million Series D led by Qatar and Koch
Gatik said on 25 August 2026 that it raised a $200 million Series D led by the Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies, the largest round in the company's history.

Millennium Management, ARK Invest, Intact Private Capital and Arca Continental joined the round, Gatik said. Tech Times reported on 26 August that Intact tripled its previous commitment.
The Series D brings total capital raised to about $500 million since the Santa Clara, California company came out of stealth in 2019, TechCrunch reported. Gatik said Fortune 50 retailers, grocers and consumer goods companies want more capacity on the regional routes it serves. TechCrunch described Gatik as largely alone in that middle-mile slice of the market. Tech Times contrasted it with rivals that chased coast-to-coast robotaxi promises and long-haul highway autonomy.
Gatik did not disclose a valuation.
What the $200 million buys
QIA is Qatar's sovereign wealth fund, which Tech Times put at approximately $524 billion. "These are all long-term investors," Gautam Narang, Gatik's chief executive, told TechCrunch, saying the scale-up plans for the next few years need that kind of financial partner. Abdulla Al-Kuwari, QIA's head of industrials, said the fund was supporting companies that are shaping freight infrastructure. Koch Disruptive Technologies president Byron Knight said Gatik had shown "a practical approach" to moving autonomy from promising technology into commercial operations.
Gatik said the capital will expand its commercial operations and fleet while it continues to invest in technology, infrastructure and its workforce.
Why the trucks stay regional
Gatik runs 26- and 30-foot Isuzu box trucks between distribution centers and stores, nearly 24 hours a day, according to a WWD report published by Yahoo Finance on 26 August. A single trip can cover up to 400 miles. The operation covers the metro areas of Dallas-Fort Worth, Phoenix, northwest Arkansas and Toronto. Qatar's state news agency gives the same footprint as Texas, Arizona, Arkansas and Ontario. The routes began at under 10 miles with fixed stops. TechCrunch reported that they now run dynamic routes with dozens of pick-up and drop-off points.
Tech Times reported that no safety driver sits in the cab on commercial routes.
Narang told TechCrunch that the third-generation trucks handle surface streets, highways, light rain and snow. The Gatik Driver system pairs AI with production-grade hardware built for medium-duty trucks, according to the WWD report. It covers highway merges, dense urban traffic and dock-to-dock maneuvering. Gatik describes the routes as time-sensitive and operationally complex.
PepsiCo is the proof point
The largest public deployment is with PepsiCo: 41 driverless trucks haul Frito-Lay products between distribution centers and stores in Dallas, Phoenix and northwest Arkansas, reaching roughly 250 retail locations including Walmart and Dollar General outlets, Tech Times reported. FreightWaves called the agreement the largest commercial autonomous freight deployment on record, according to Tech Times. Driverless runs on the Frito-Lay routes began in June 2025, and the two companies formalized a multiyear commercial expansion in June 2026. Gatik's first publicly named customer was Walmart, in a partnership that began in 2019. The company says that work produced the first removal of a safety driver from a commercial middle-mile route, in August 2021. Jim Farrell, PepsiCo's senior vice president of supply chain, said the company needed capacity on hard-to-staff regional networks that keep shelves stocked.
TechCrunch reported that the round closed two months after the PepsiCo agreement. Gatik also signed a five-year deal with Loblaw in September 2025 covering an initial 50 trucks around Toronto, Tech Times reported.
The numbers
Gatik says it has completed more than 85,000 fully driverless orders at a 99% on-time rate, up from the 60,000 it announced in January, PYMNTS reported. Contracted revenue stands at more than $600 million. Qatar's state news agency reported more than 100,000 orders delivered, without explaining the difference from Gatik's own figure. Jawlah put the on-time rate at nearly 99.1%, against Gatik's 99%.
"We have built Gatik with real revenue, deep customer demand, and AI-driven autonomous technology," Narang said in the funding statement.
What happens next
Gatik operates dozens of driverless trucks and is targeting more than 100 by the end of 2026, a spokesperson told the WWD report. The company says it plans to reach "thousands" in the years ahead. Scaling means hiring. Narang told TechCrunch that Gatik will add engineers and operational staff beyond its 350-person workforce. He also raised the prospect of eventually operating outside North America. Gatik has not revealed which markets it is considering for expansion.
