Agoda's AI Assistant opens to 21 markets, with the booking still the test

Agoda's AI Assistant opens to 21 markets, with the booking still the test

Travellers in 21 markets can now plan and book a trip inside one Agoda conversation. They no longer need to move between chat tools, review sites and booking apps. For competitors, the fight is over the last step: the reservation. Survey data suggests most travellers still will not hand over the final click.

From a September test to 21 markets

It is now available in 21 markets, including Singapore, India and Malaysia. Users reach it through the Agoda mobile app on iOS and Android.

Agoda calls it a brand-new booking experience. It is the first in its 20-plus year history.

The assistant combines conversational planning with Agoda's live inventory. It does not hand users off to a separate booking flow. A traveller can ask for a five-day family trip to Osaka and compare neighbourhoods. They can look at restaurants, then check rooms and flights for specific dates without restarting the search.

What the assistant actually runs on

The assistant draws on more than 6 million accommodations, over 130,000 flight routes and more than 300,000 activities.

OpenAI models power the core conversational intelligence. Google Maps Grounding supplies restaurant and point-of-interest data. That data includes ratings, photos, opening hours and locations. A trip planner canvas holds confirmed bookings, places to visit and options still undecided while the plan develops. Web search is integrated too. Answers can include current information from outside Agoda's inventory.

The booking is the hard part

Trust in the final step is thinner than trust in the research. WTM London released the WTM Global Travel Report 2026 with Tourism Economics. It found that 54% of travellers aged 18 to 34 trust AI to make bookings, against 18% of those aged 55 and older. Across all age groups, 36% said they would trust AI to complete a booking.

Use is climbing anyway. AI chatbots for planning international trips went from 10% of travellers in 2024 to 24% in 2026, the same report found.

MakeMyTrip's Myra assistant handles 3,000 bookings a day, Rajesh Magow said on its earnings call. Magow is the company's co-founder and group chief executive. He said customers use Myra for assistance rather than to complete whole trips.

Agoda's second door into the conversation

On 28 October 2026 Agoda became the first travel platform regionally with an active connector in Muse. Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, and it launched in Singapore that day. Muse users in Singapore and Japan can reach Agoda through the Muse app on iOS and Android and at muse.ai. Matteo Frigerio, Agoda's chief product officer, said the connection gives travellers another way to discover, plan and book trips.

What Agoda has not said

Agoda says early beta data shows users of the assistant are more likely to book a connected trip. That trip combines hotels, flights, attraction tickets and tours. Agoda gave no conversion figures. Agoda has not disclosed how many bookings the assistant completes. It has also not said how it ranks the options it recommends.
